Is Wing Chun hard or soft, internal or external.  The answer is ask ten teachers and you will get ten different answers.  My Wing Chun is not hard or soft, it is a combination of the two, I call it a flexible strength.  I have felt good Wing Chun people who were like rubber and those that had the touch of a butterfly.  It just depends where you are on your Wing Chun journey.  If someone says it has to be only one way, they are mistaken.  What you absolutely cannot do is force your punches when the other person has control of the centerline.  You need to flow around the obstruction.

A main difference in my Wing Chun from what I see from others is the snapping and whipping power I use in my Wing Chun, without chambering or using additional muscle.  This comes from the forms where others put no energy into their forms, I snap and whip my hands.

Chi Sau is the most misunderstood drill in all of Martial Arts.  To me it is just a drill, where 99% of other Wing Chun schools spend their time doing mostly Chi Sau but can't fight.  I do 90% combat drills and only 10% chi sau.  Where others grapple and slap each other, I teach to hit.
